KalmBaby FAQ
Quick answers for the most common app usage questions, including sound, vibrations, screen-off mode, Monitor AI, free limits and subscriptions.
Download KalmBaby
Install the app on iOS or Android, then follow the How to use guide for the safest setup.
Why do sound or vibrations stop when I lock my phone?
KalmBaby needs to stay open in the foreground for the most reliable sound, vibration and Monitor AI behavior. Do not lock the phone and do not switch to another app during an active session. Use the in-app Dim or Screen off option instead.
How does Screen off mode work?
Screen off mode is an in-app dark screen. It reduces light while keeping KalmBaby active. To bring the controls back, tap the screen while you are still inside KalmBaby. This is different from locking the device.
Why can’t I listen to every sound?
Some lullabies, white noise tracks, vibration patterns, longer sessions and customization features are part of the subscription experience. The free version includes selected content so you can try the app first.
What is the difference between Music and White Noise?
Music contains lullabies and melodies. White Noise contains steady background sounds that may help make the room feel more consistent. You can switch between them from the Home screen.
Can I use KalmBaby without sound or without vibration?
Yes. The Audio card has a control to disable sound, and the Vibrations card has a control to disable vibration. This lets you run sound only, vibration only, or both together.
What is the custom vibration feature?
Custom vibrations allow premium users to build a personal vibration pattern. You can set an initial delay, vibration duration in milliseconds, intensity and steps. Preview the pattern before using it in a full session.
Why does Monitor AI need microphone permission?
Crying detection needs microphone access so the app can listen for crying while Monitor AI is active. If permission is denied or the microphone is blocked, crying detection cannot work correctly.
Why is Monitor AI not triggering?
Check that Monitor AI is enabled, the correct trigger is selected, microphone permission is granted, the phone is not locked, KalmBaby is open in the foreground, and the phone is placed safely and flat.
Should I use airplane mode during a session?
It is optional. After setting up the session, airplane mode or turning off network access can reduce calls, notifications and interruptions. Only use it when you do not need network access during that time.
Is KalmBaby a baby monitor or medical device?
No. KalmBaby is a soothing aid for parents and caregivers. It is not a medical device, not a safety device and not a replacement for adult supervision. Always place the phone safely and out of the baby’s reach.
