A phone can provide useful bedtime tools, but it can also bring light, alerts, and distractions. During a baby soothing session, the phone should become quiet support rather than another active object in the room.
That means choosing the sound or vibration, placing the phone safely, and avoiding unnecessary interaction once the session starts.

Use in-app screen modes instead of locking
KalmBaby includes No dim, Dim, and Screen off modes. These are designed for use inside the app. If you want a dark screen, choose Screen off in KalmBaby rather than locking the phone.
Locking the phone or switching apps can interrupt sound, vibration, or Monitor AI behavior. The app needs to stay open in the foreground for reliable operation.
How to bring the screen back
When KalmBaby’s Screen off mode is active, the app shows a dark in-app screen. Tapping the screen brings the controls back. This is different from the device being locked.
If you use Monitor AI, the same rule applies: keep the app open and use the in-app screen controls.
Reduce notifications
Notifications can break a calm moment quickly. After setting up the session, consider enabling airplane mode or turning off network access if you do not need calls or messages during that time.
This is optional, but it can be useful when the goal is a quiet room with fewer sudden changes.
Keep the routine practical
A bedtime routine should not require constant phone management. Set the session length, choose sound and vibration settings, start the session, and let the room stay calm.
The fewer extra actions required, the easier the routine is to repeat.
